Nilrem is Sperry's and Arianna's uncle, the brother of their father, Chastic Van Ness. He is a professor of general magic at the St. Sybbyl Rowan of Derwentwater Academy of Wizardry and Healing Arts. He is a very, very old wizard, and he loves children and teaching them, especially, about magic.
